Brutus is the secondary antagonist in Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses. He is a monkey, and the sidekick of the film's main antagonist, Duchess Rowena. Brutus is voiced by Peter Kelamis.
Story[]
A pet monkey belonging to Rowena, Brutus arrived with her and her servant Desmond. Brutus was with Rowena when King Randolph introduced Rowena to his daughters. Fallon wanted to hold Brutus, but Rowena said no because he was rare. Throughout the movie, Brutus kept bothering Genevieve's pet cat Twyla and making fun of her. Although she tried to get him to back off by telling him she was related to the tigers of India, Brutus just stated she was as "ferocious as a flea".
One morning, Brutus saw the princesses dancing and told Rowena who scolded the girls for doing so. The next day, he intruded in the girls' room, went through their belongings and started jumping on their beds to find one comfortable to sleep on until Twyla attempted to attack him (the fact that she missed, he also teased her about) and stole a pair of dancing shoes belonging to one of the princesses. When he gave them to Rowena, she noticed that they were worn through which made her think the princesses had been out dancing with princes (which led to her fearing that her plans would be ruined). The two soon heard singing, which was the girls trying to cheer Randolph up while he was sick. The next morning, Brutus woke up the princesses when they were still half-asleep.
After Derek snuck into the castle through the princesses' bedroom, Brutus saw him dance on some magical stones that looked like flowers that were on the floor. He attempted to show Rowena this, though she thought he was just being stupid until the stones lit up. This led the two to a secret pavilion the girls had been visiting. Finding some magical flowers, Brutus got some of them after being ordered so by Rowena. After Desmond was imprisoned by Derek and some of the princesses, but was able to escape, Brutus tackled Derek's parrot Felix (who was about to fly after Desmond) from above and started plucking out his feathers until Brutus got a mousetrap caught on his tail from Twyla. After that, he ran away with Rowena and Desmond.
Physical Appearance[]
Brutus is a rare monkey. He has white and gray fur. He has long skinny arms and legs and small ears. He has no fur on his face, ears, hands or feet. Brutus is mostly gray but he has white fur on his chest and around his head. Brutus also has a long thin tail.
Personality[]
Brutus was very faithful to Rowena, acting as her spy on the princesses. He also bullied Twyla, insulting her and plucking hairs from her constantly. He also seemed to be somewhat dim-witted, with Rowena calling him a "stupid monkey".
However, whenever him and Rowena enter the princesses bedroom so that he could show her where the princesses have gone to, Rowena grows impatient and starts to leave, as soon as she's about to leave, Brutus had already figured out how to make the stones on the princesses' bedroom floor light up and Rowena noticeably points out that "there's a method to your madness."
