– Barbie

Barbie: A Perfect Christmas is the 21st Barbie movie. It was released on DVD and digital copy on November 7, 2011. The movie is a musical and it follows Barbie and her younger sisters, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea, as they discover what makes Christmas perfect.

Official Summary[]

"Join Barbie and her sisters, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea as their holiday vacation plans turn into a most unexpected adventure and heartwarming lesson. After a snow storm grounds their plane, the girls find themselves far from their New York City destination and their holiday dreams. Now stranded at a remote hotel in Rochester, Minnesota, the sisters are welcomed by new friends and magical experiences. In appreciation for the wonderful hospitality they receive, Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea use their musical talents to put on a performance for the whole town. Barbie and her sisters realize the true joy of being together is what really makes A Perfect Christmas."

Story[]

Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea prepare to go to New York to spend Christmas with their aunt, Millicent. Skipper vlogs while her sisters get ready. Chelsea wants to go to the Central Park Zoo, Stacie wants to visit the skating rink at the Rockerfeller Center, Barbie wants to see a Broadway show. Skipper has written a song for her friend Zoe's band, and Skipper plans on livestreaming the band when they perform the song in New York. The girls believe they will have a perfect Christmas.

After picking up their Christmas stockings, Barbie and her sisters leave their home and board a plane. Stacie gets annoyed when Chelsea keeps copying her. Due to a snowstorm, the plane lands in Rochester, Minnesota, but Barbie promises her sisters they will get to New York. After driving for hours, the girls get lost. They find the Tannenbaum Inn and meet the friendly owner, Christie Clauson. Christie's employees include the Elif family. Christie explains that the Elifs help her to do a big toy drive every Christmas, and her uncle distributes the presents on Christmas Eve. Chelsea is reminded of Santa Claus and his elves.

That night, Barbie and her sisters stay in the best room at the inn. Skipper informs her sisters that there are major flight cancellations because of another snowstorm. Barbie promises her sisters again that they will make it to New York. However, Barbie knows it's impossible to get to New York and their perfect Christmas is ruined. Barbie blames herself for getting her sisters' hopes up. When Barbie expresses this to Christie, Christie comforts her and says the perfect Christmas is a feeling they can still experience, even if they don't get to New York.

On the morning of Christmas Eve, the girls find out their flight is cancelled. Skipper texts Millicent to let her know they won't make it to New York. Barbie puts their stockings on the window sill in their room. She thinks she sees a reindeer outside. Barbie and her sisters go to look at the reindeer, but instead they find shelter dogs with fake reindeer antlers on. Christie says the inn gets several "reindogs" to play Santa's reindeer each year, so the dogs always get adopted. When Chelsea copies Stacie as they play with the dogs, Stacie gets irritated and wants to be left alone.

Chelsea goes off on her own and meets a husky puppy named Rudy. Chelsea gets in a sleigh that is attached to Rudy, but Rudy starts chasing a squirrel. Chelsea's sisters run after her and find some real reindeer. They follow a reindeer to a barn filled with hundreds of wrapped presents. Chelsea insists that it must be Santa's barn, but her sisters are skeptical. On the way back to the inn, Barbie and her sisters play together with Rudy. Skipper hears some music and follows it to a garage where a boy named Brian is playing with his band. Brian recognizes Skipper because he is a fan of her vlogs. He would like to be featured on it, but his band has no lead singer or online presence. Skipper wishes them luck.

Skipper still feels sad that the song she wrote for Zoe's band won't be performed. Barbie recommends that Skipper could do a concert with Brian's band and sing with them, as well as livestream the performance. Skipper wants to do it, but doesn't want Barbie to be involved. Barbie agrees, so Skipper goes to tell Brian's band about the idea. The band agrees to it. Stacie and Chelsea want to help, so Christie suggests they do a dog show to help showcase the last few shelter dogs. Skipper tells Barbie to make decorations. Barbie phones Millicent and says the storms have flights backed up for two more days.

Christie tells Barbie that Skipper is so busy rehearsing that she doesn't have time to give instructions, and that Skipper gave everyone orders not to make any decisions without her. Stacie wants to do her dog act separately from Chelsea. Chelsea tries to talk to Skipper, but Skipper feels overwhelmed by all the decisions she has to make. Skipper yells at Chelsea and Stacie says Chelsea is in everyone's way. Chelsea leaves because she feels like a nuisance. Skipper admits that she finds it hard to measure up to Barbie since Barbie can plan big events, but Barbie says she never does anything by herself and that Skipper shouldn't compare herself to anyone. Skipper feels better and shares a hug with Barbie.

The squirrel sees Stacie giving treats to the dogs, so the squirrel steals one. The dogs chase the squirrel and the ensuing chaos causes the stage and all the decorations to get ruined. The girls notice that Chelsea is missing, so Christie and the Elifs help to search for her. Chelsea's sisters find her and Rudy in the barn. Chelsea says she was playing with reindeer and then fell asleep. She adds that she ran away because Skipper was mad at her. Skipper says she loves having Chelsea around, and Stacie agrees. The sisters have a group hug.

Stacie agrees to do the dog show with Chelsea. Skipper says there won't be a show because they don't have a stage, so Stacie replies that Christmas must be ruined for Skipper. Skipper responds that it's the perfect Christmas because she's with her sisters. Chelsea brings her sisters outside to play with the reindeer, but the reindeer are gone. Barbie sees sleigh tracks that are two big to have been made by Rudy's sled. The girls follow the tracks, which suddenly stop as if the sled took off flying. The sisters notice that all the presents from the barn are gone, replaced with decorations, a stage, chairs for an audience, and the sisters' stockings. The stockings are filled with presents. Chelsea says it must have been Santa.

Christie joins them and Skipper asks if she and Brian's band can use the barn. Christie agrees and says she made several calls to attract a whole audience. Christie says her uncle phoned her after he picked up the presents and told her the barn would be perfect. She adds that her uncle does his best work on Christmas eve. Barbie and her sisters are in awe. Skipper admits she needs a lot of help to finish preparing for the show. With 45 minutes to show time, Skipper rewrites the lyrics to her song. Stacie and Chelsea do their dog show, and then Skipper performs with Brian's band. She sings about having the perfect Christmas with her sisters. The performance is livestreamed and gets many views. Millicent arrives and sings a Christmas carol with her nieces, Christie and the Elifs while holding hands around a large Christmas tree outside the barn.
